I loved him at fifteen. I thought we’d stand the test of time. He was my forever but maybe I fell too fast or loved him too much. Maybe I came on too strong or maybe I did something wrong. He still left. Turned his back on me without a word. I never thought I’d see him again and to be honest, I didn’t want to. I began to hate him even though he would never know it. But then, I did see him again and with him came the secrets that would forever change all of our lives. 


She was only a recurring dream in my foggy subconscious. A voice. A face. We weren’t supposed to dream. We weren’t supposed to remember. They said it was impossible and the before would never come into the now. None of the others remember, at least not that I know of. What I do know is that she was my everything, my every waking breath. Now that I’ve found her I will not be losing her a second time. She will be mine again, no matter what the cost.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR


Kris Hack lives in Texas with her husband and their two furbabies. As an adult she became an avid reader and always seemed to have her own story to tell.  Finally, she took the leap and wrote, and wrote, and wrote, until she laid her heart and soul into writing and told her story. The Ascension of Laney will be her first published work and she plans to publish many more in the future.

Born and raised in New York, Catrina is a U.S. Veteran, wife, mommy, controller of chaos, domestic engineer and cook. She loves wine, good books, good food and especially anything slathered in Nutella.

Always a storyteller, she enthralled her friend with tales of her wild daydreams involving the latest hot boy band (okay, they weren't called boy bands back in the 80s. They were called Duran Duran), but she never wrote them down.

She eventually grew up and embarked on a not so exciting career in the military, followed by an exciting career working in IT for a few major U.S. corporations and traveled the world. And instead of meeting in their hometown, she met her husband in Cyberspace while he was in Korea.

Marriage and having a child afforded Catrina more time to read, one of her former passions, and eventually, to begin writing.

With the support of her family, she's released her first novel, Ultimate Betrayal: Revelations and is working on the follow up - Nightmares.

"Kill, Alecto whispered again.

Her voice was persistent, persuasive. But this wasn’t like the night before, when I hadn’t realized

"Then Jackson leaned in toward me and I forgot about the gun altogether. I bit my lip hard. This was
stupid. So, so stupid. I was supposed to be getting rid of him, not giving in to what felt like a bad case of
horny teenage hormones. I looked up at him and opened my mouth to tell him to stop, but the words
died in my throat as I inhaled another breath of his clean, male scent.

He braced himself against the door with one hand and pressed himself against me. He ran his other hand
up my thigh and over my hip, stopping at the waistband of my jeans. He was hard all over,
especially where he pressed against my belly, long and thick. I reached up and dug my fingers into his
shoulders. My head spun, but I didn’t tell him to stop."






Nicola R. White is no stranger to the fantastic. Although there are no Furies in her family tree (that she knows of), she comes from a small city on the east coast of Canada where ghost stories and superstitions abound. She has worked on movie sets, as a bartender, in a lighthouse, and as a lawyer, and though she’s never been an exotic dancer like her character, Alex Hughes, she does know how to pole dance.

She has always been fascinated by the strange and morbid, and often stays up too late reading books that give her nightmares. She believes truth is stranger than fiction, and just a few of her heroes are Buffy, Dana Scully, and Xena.
