Truths, buried and long forgotten, have risen at a time when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest. Only Hunter and Rowen hold the key to locking the past in the past, and setting old wrongs to right. Can justice be served? Can the two find a way to straddle both worlds and solve the mystery when they don’t understand the clues? Inspired by true events that surround the village of Sleepy Hollow and the famous legend that shares its name, this Young Adult Romance takes you on a journey full of history and suspense with a splash of horror and the paranormal.

1.)
Tell us a little about yourself.
I love to read, and
I love music…especially music you can dance to. I recently discover Zumba and
I’m hooked! I enjoy watching Ice Hockey with my family, especially the NY
Rangers, but I’d have to say my absolute favorite thing to do is travel. In
fact, my husband just surprised me with a trip to Italy for my 50th
birthday! We leave in a couple of months. I’m not one for being rendered
speechless, but when he told me about the trip I was floored!
As for my books, everything I write about comes from me. Whether it’s an actual
experience or a dream that felt real enough for me to have a reaction to it and
write it down. I’m an avid traveler, so I use those experiences in my books.
There isn’t a place my characters go to or live that I haven’t been to myself…maybe
this trip to Italy will birth a new character and a new story…hey, you never
know, right?
2.)
When did you start to write?
I’ve always been making up stories, long before
I could ever write them down. Writing is the way I express myself best, it is
the way I channel my own brand of magic. The stories I like most are the ones
that allow me to merge my love of writing with my love of history. That’s one
of the reasons Hollow’s End is so near and dear to my heart…that and the fact
that I have family ties to the actual village of Sleepy Hollow.
About five years
ago my husband surprised me with a new laptop for Christmas. I had been talking
about writing fiction for a while, and surprise, he actually listened! I jumped in with both feet and wrote Hunter’s Blood,
the first book in the Cursed by Blood Series. Shortly after, I won a pitch
contest with Harlequin Nocturne Bites, but got tired of wadding through
publishing industry red tape. I formed my own company in 2012 and published the
book and every subsequent book in the series, myself. It’s been a long, hard
road with a very steep learning curve these past two years, but promised myself
I would handle my business the same way the big six publishing houses handle
theirs...professionally. I have editors, cover artists and proofreaders on my
virtual staff, and when a book is ready for pre-press they all get a call and
it’s go time. I love it!
3.)
What Genre’s do you write?
I write across
genres, but all fall nicely under Romance
and that includes both Teen as well as adult books. I tend to write stories
that are crossovers in Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense,
but I have recently fallen in love with Historical Romance. I have even more
WIPS outlined in Contemporary and Erotic Romance, Horror and straight up
Mystery/Thriller.
4.)
Have you ever thought about writing in a different genre?
The only thing I haven’t tried and probably won’t,
is Steampunk. I just can’t wrap my head around it writing-wise. I enjoy it, but
the genre doesn’t ‘speak’ to me creatively. I often think about writing
nonfiction, biographies about some of the historical figures I’ve researched
for my Legend series — Hollow’s End and its sequel Time Turner set to release
November 30th, but I’m too afraid I’d be tempted to fictionalize their lives to
up the thrill value. LOL!
5.)
Can you tell us a little about your new project?
My latest release is a departure
from what I normally write. In fact, it is also my debut novel into the Teen/YA
genre. The book is called Hollow’s End,
and it book one in a new series called The Legend Series. The book is a Teen
horror with a splash of history, romance and the paranormal that was inspired
by historical events that surround the town of Sleepy Hollow and the famous
legend that shares its name. In the story, two hundred years of secrets and
lies are bleeding into the present, and high school seniors, Hunter Morrissey
and Rowen Corbett, find themselves linked with unseen forces shrouded in
mystery and violence. Truths, buried and long forgotten, have risen at a time
when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest. Only Hunter
and Rowen hold the key to locking the past in the past, and setting old wrongs
to right.
6.)
Do you have any new releases coming out anytime soon? If yes what is the title
and when can we expect it?
I have been writing book two of the above mentioned
Legend Series. It’s called TIME TURNER and it is a Teen Historical Romance with
a time travel twist that continues with the characters from Hollow’s End. It
takes place in modern day as well as colonial New York and involves the spy
network employed by the Americans and the British during the Revolutionary War.
The book is currently up for presale on Amazon with a release date of November
30th. There’s a sneak peek of the first two chapters at the end of
Hollow’s End.
8.)
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Oh boy, that’s a hard question since I read so much.
Hmmm…I guess I’d have to say Philippa Gregory, Diana Gabaldon, Anne Rice, Nora
Roberts, Sherrilyn Kenyon, KarenMarie Moning, Stephen King, Nancy Holder, Cami
Garcia, Dianna Love, etc...
9). Did you learn anything from writing your
book and what was it?
Yes, as a
matter of fact I did. While researching Hollow’s End, I came across another
lesser known urban legend that is something relatively unknown outside of
Sleepy Hollow. It is the legend of the Bronze Lady. The legend goes that if you
walk through the cemetery at night you will hear the sound of a woman crying,
but it’s not a woman, it’s the bronze statue of a lady outside the tomb of
Civil War General Samuel Thomas. The story says that if you show her kindness
and compassion she will grand you her favor, but if you mock her grief she will
haunt you to death. Pretty cool, huh?
10.)
Which of your books you written is your favorite? Favorite Character?
I love all my books and all my characters, but since
it’s fall and Halloween is my favorite time of the year I have to say Hollow’s End and my main character, Rowen Corbett. She is my favorite
character of the Legend Series. She’s a combination of me now, me as a teen and
my two daughters Sarah and Danielle. Her personality, her fears and dreams, are
an amalgamation of us and that’s why she is so special to me. The fact that
she’s witchy and has a cool family with powers and a strong colonial link makes
her even more fun, and of course there’s her hunky boyfriend who is the epitome
of the guy I would love for each of my girls to find.
