Someone pressed himself against Michaela’s back, his hands twining around her stomach. She felt his lips on her neck, his breath in her ear. He said something, but Michaela couldn’t hear. Clark cocked an eyebrow at her and moved away slightly to dance with a petite girl in a fox costume. Michaela twisted in the man’s arms so that they were face to face. He was tall and lanky and definitely human. The pupils of his eyes were huge, dilated far beyond normal, and Michaela smelled the musky hint of drugs seeping from his mouth. His hands roamed over her body, groping her ass. There was no room to get away; the bodies in the middle of the floor were pressed so close together. For a moment, panic flooded through Michaela’s veins. Sure she could knock this guy out with one hit, but she didn’t want to bring attention to herself. She looked around, realizing that everyone was experiencing the same sort of free will she was. She had no clue how the human girls dealt with this sort of invasion. In her distraction, she didn’t realize the man in front of her was about to kiss her until the second before his lips smashed into hers. Immediately, his tongue pressed into her mouth, forcing her lips to part. His tangy salvia pooled at the back of her throat and gagged her. His hand slid up her side to fist around her breast. In that appalling moment, Michaela realized two things. The first being that Gabriel, who was very new to the whole sex thing, was very, very good at the sex thing. And the second being…Gabriel. He stood in all his tall, dark glory behind the man sucking on Michaela’s tongue. Lifting his hand as if he was going to tap on the man’s shoulder and ask to cut in, Gabriel pressed a finger onto on the man’s shoulder, making him instantly sag to the floor. Gabriel pressed harder into the pressure point on the guy’s neck until he was nearly on the floor and completely disengaged from Michaela. It was quiet and efficient. Gabriel righted the man and set him aside before he made too much of a scene. In the mass of pulsing bodies and underneath the flashing storm of rainbow lights, it was unnoticeable. The man moved away, slightly stunned and confused, but without a backwards glance. Michaela shrugged sheepishly at Gabriel’s blank stare. Only because she was looking at his mouth was she able to read his lips as he spoke. “Don’t kiss anyone else.”

Excerpt: Alusia smiles wanly. “What happened in Kooram?” she asks. “There was a party. We were dancing. Seamus and I were celebrating our engagement...” I pause, ashamed. He sits beside me, unaware of my role in this, oblivious to my own deception. “It was my fault.” Seamus takes my hand. “Alondra, stop. You know this has nothing to do with you.” “It has everything to do with her,” Alusia interrupts. “And her mother.” “Look, although Alondra seems thankful for whatever you want to share with her, I don't care what these secrets are. This is not her fault and she does not need you blaming her.” Seamus's anger is new to me. I have been so amazed by his calm, his kindness; he is more like a Demorian now than I have ever seen him, and I have watched him cut a man's throat. Alusia sighs. “I do not mean to assign blame. But we can no longer pretend that this was a rogue attack, that these events have not culminated in bringing you here, that fate has not worked its magic to get this book into her hands.” She runs her fingers along the book on her lap. “It's fine,” I say. “But it was not fate. Maybe I did not make the only bad choices, but choices got us here. And I, for one, am tired of hearing about fate.” “The attack,” Seamus continues. “It was sudden. A siren spell warned us before the mages were slaughtered. I don't know how they breached the Demorian guard, but without the dying spell of an elder mage, no one would be sitting here right now with you.” “So you ran?” Alusia asks. “I don't run,” I argue. “In fact, I am only here because someone kidnapped me in my sleep.” “It was her father's wish,” Seamus mumbles. “The forces came quickly. We spread the word to meet in the caves and Kooram split into two groups: those who were running for the caves, and those who would stay behind. My parents were with those running, but I stayed. Ereditus, our commander, rallied the troops. Seamus was already by my side. My friend, Lormander...” I stop and think of that moment. Sanara's face, broken by the choice he was making, is etched into my memory. I watched her fingers slowly fall from his hand and the agony in her glance as she turned back to see him one last time tore me asunder. And now, somewhere, are they reunited? Did she lead everyone to Tallagut? Did he stay behind in the caves to face his death, remembering her kiss as the blade entered his heart? I choke on the images and tears rest on the precipice of my eyelids. “We stayed,” I repeat. “There were so many of them. It was chaos. Smoke billowed from the streets, from our homes, from everything that was my childhood. I saw young boys, thinking they were brave, split in twain as the attackers stepped over the corpses, trailing death. What I remember most was the sound. The crash of swords, the screams of the fallen, the crackle of burning. The details are hazy. We left Kooram in ruins when we saw that we were outclassed. I walked through fields of carnage to the caves, only to wake on the other side, in a mirror world, yet untouched.” “The king, he asked that we come here. He said you had the answers, the only weapon we could use against him,” Seamus adds. My shattered body sits beside him, but my mind and my soul are still with the dead. “I am an old woman, and a forgotten mage,” Alusia says. “I am also the keeper of secrets and memories. I do not forge steel. My only weapon is knowledge. But that I have in abundance, and I believe it is time Alondra take her share.” She rises from the dusty chair and approaches. I sense my hands as they lift to take the book she offers; the leather cover is hardened, but smooth to touch. I run my hand along the spine and trace the embossed seal. “Please take this to your room. You will need time, and you will need privacy. When you are done, I will be waiting for your questions.” Dream Cast: alondra Alondra A princess of a kingdom lost in time and wrapped in secrets. Snarky and difficult, because life has always been easy, she is unprepared to be the leader she needs to be when her city falls. seamus2 Seamus: A trained assassin tasked with keeping his own city, and all the cities of the kingdom, safe. Betrothed to Alondra for diplomatic reasons. Much kinder than his profession reveals. layla Layla: A young girl trained to be an assassin, sent to kill the son of the king. Her hopes rest on succeeding in her quest, because if she fails, there is no alternative but death. tevlin Tevlin: The mysterious man who captures Alondra’s heart on a night before the world fell apart. Tumbleweed by: Julia Bramer Blog Tour with Review

“Two men were infinitely better than one, an intoxicating combination if I could find it, and my greedy self-indulgence was boundless, my sexuality unleashed those many years ago with him. His shadow haunted me and shaped my obsession, the depth of my depravity deep and forged in the cafes and nightclubs and back alleys in a dozen countries with dozens of men.
Once I’d started down that road, I couldn’t stop and couldn’t go back, a dark and insatiable impulse propelling me forward and driving me into the arms of strangers like the Mohammeds and into the sweltering barren desert.” 〰 Haley 〰

Unable to cope with the loss of her first love, a charming and seductive Spanish soccer player, beautiful, headstrong Haley Hanson abandons love entirely. She seeks solace in the arms of strangers and fame, a tumbleweed rolling where the gusts of wind carry her, and she lands between a garbage bin of rotting food and a brick wall. Stuck in limbo and near death.

Will love destroy her or conquer all?

MY REVIEW
Tumbleweed

Overall Rating 5 Stars

Wow! This book took me on an emotion ride. It was really good, but hard to read in some spots. Which isn’t a bad thing. This book was amazing, emotional, intriguing, and really deep. I really love this author and the way she writes. She doesn’t disappoint at all. The details that she puts into this book is remarkable, the story line is WOW, it will have you up late reading it.
Haley is the main character in this book. I really love her. She has everything that a girl would want. Then she gets her heart broken. Instead of getting over it she turns into someone she doesn’t recognizes. She is a broken soul. Then things turn more upside down for her. This book had me gasping for air and crying. Haley is a strong but weak young girl that is trying to find her place. The things that Haley goes through is just crazy! The author really knows what she is doing and she is BRILLIANT! I haven’t read a book like this, it is very unpredictable and I love books like that.
If I was ask do I recommend this book, OMG YES. You have to read this book. The only warning I have is be prepare to have you emotions all over the place.  Julia, I am a fan for life, what you did in this book is beyond brilliant. It is a masterpiece. Thank you for writing, and writing this book!! Well worth more than 5 stars

Excerpt

We returned to the hotel after midnight and I immediately drew him a hot bath, adding bubbles from the upscale toiletry collection, and he let out a long sigh as he sank slowly into it, gazing at me expectantly as I hovered over him.
“You come, cariño?” he asked, gesturing for me to join him, and my pussy immediately jumped to attention.
I sat on the toilet and hurriedly removed my sandals and ripped off the tank top, my pulse racing as it always did when his luscious eyes turned seductive and mischievous.
“You do naked dance, mi amor?” he asked.
“Striptease,” I corrected, laughing, and he flicked bubbles in my direction, grinning boyishly.
“You do striptease?”
The suggestion made me hotter and I slowed down.  I slid the jeans leisurely over my behind, turned away from him and bent over, giving him a good, long look at my ass in the skimpy thong as I wriggled out of the pants.
“Fantástico,” he murmured, and I spun to face him, fluffing my hair so it fell wildly around my face.
Then I slid my index fingers inside the panties, tracing them along my hip and the apex of my sex, and I plunged a hand inside, touching myself and licking my lips, enticing him with my tongue, and his eyes practically bugged out of their sockets.
I smiled to myself.  My first striptease and it turned me on as much as it did him, my slit dripping with juices and my clit plumping and pulsing, and if I’d wanted, I could’ve made myself come in an instant.
I moaned softly, deliberately, and moved my hands up to my breasts, skimming the lacy fabric.  I unhooked the bra and held it close to my chest, my hips swaying suggestively, and then I flung it at him.
He snatched it out of the air, his coordination soccer perfect, as was he.  Delicious, tantalizingly hot, the bubbles swirling around his ribcage as he smiled his uniquely crooked smile and gazed lovingly at me with his soft chocolate eyes.
He was enjoying himself and so was I, and it was impossible not to love him.
I shimmied my tits in his face, making a show of it, and his hands reached for them, but I backed away.
“Mi amor, come with me,” he appealed.
And I did, quickly peeling off the thong and sliding into the tub.  I straddled him and he grasped the nape of my neck, gently drawing me in for a kiss, his tongue passionate, loving and intense, a slow sultry dance.  I drowned in that kiss, swept under by a–
The lock clicked.  Baba was back.  I silently cursed him, wanting to remain in the past, wanting to stay with Mikel.  I remained immobile and kept my eyes closed, and I felt him looming over me, sensed the stark light streaming from the ceiling and smelled cigarette smoke.

MY REVIEW

The Rhythm of my Heart (Matters of the Heart #1)

Overall 5 stars

This is Velvet Reed’s debut book, and it doesn’t disappoint. It was real written, the story line was remarkable, and hot at the same time. It draws you in and holds your interest until the end.
Grace and Cole are the main characters in this book. Grace is watching after her niece Ruby and something happens and then she meets the handsome and sexy doctor Cole. Grace is a wonderful character she LOVES her family and her little niece. After meeting the doctor at the ER things start to go in motion. There are some twist and turns but it makes the story more intriguing. I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that Grace and Cole have great chemistry towards each other. I also love the secondary characters as well.

I am so proud of Velvet, and I will read anything that she writes. I love the family values in this book as well. A must read for sure.

EXCERPT:

With our bodies aligned perfectly together, we dance; swaying along with the music as it changes and the start of “Heartbeat” by Enrique Iglesias penetrates through the room. This song is perfect because not only is my heart racing, but I can feel Cole’s beating wildly against my back. The lyrics speak volumes; Cole is already stealing my heart… I can feel it.
So lost in the song, it takes me a second to realize that my hair has been pulled to the side and Cole’s lips are peppering soft wet kisses along my neck and shoulder.
Goosebumps break out across my skin and desire ripples its way through my system. His touch is all-consuming and by God, I want and need to be consumed. “Grace,” he whispers as he kisses and licks my ear lobe. My body shudders in reaction and moves closer to him allowing contact with the very hard and impressive bulge that presses into my lower back.
Dear God, is it normal to feel like this so soon after meeting someone?
I turn in his arms without breaking contact and look directly into those bright blue eyes, which are heated and sparkling with desire. My gaze moves to his lips as his tongue trails across them and I lose all control. Throwing myself forward, I wrap my arms tightly around his neck and crash my lips to his.
As everything around us fades away, Cole’s arms engulf my body completely so that there isn’t even a millimeter of space between us. His hungry lips assault mine and I can feel the need radiating off him in waves. Our lips part, our tongues meet and embrace, dancing with each other in the confines of our mouths.
His taste is exquisite and his technique exceptional as he takes control of the kiss. I vaguely register his hands roaming my body as my fingers tangle further into his hair, pushing his head closer to mine. I don’t know how long we stand there so completely wrapped up in each other, but when we both pull back, our chests are heaving and our breathing labored.
Cole leans forward and rests his forehead against mine. My eyes close as I relish the sweet gesture. “Most spectacular first kiss ever, Sweet Cheeks.”
My heart swells at the comment and his new name for me. I really like it. “I couldn’t agree with you more,” I simply reply, knowing I will always remember this moment forever.
