FUN FACTS:

1.    My pets are all named for mythological beings, Loki, Tyr, Sigun, and formerly Grendel, Zuul, Chupacabra, Godzilla, and others.

2.    I have a gargoyle statue named Spot, who sometimes acts as my ghostwriter. You can find him on my website banner.

3.    Spot’s “computer” is a 1929 Royal typewriter that belonged to my great uncle. He taught me to type on it when I was 10. (The uncle. Spot isn’t that old.)

4.    I have a 3-year old granddaughter with an equal love of princess dresses and latex swords. She carries off both with great aplomb. And she has a wicked swing.

5.    My husband and I are slowly remodeling an 1870 house. It’s smallish, built for a retired couple, (which we hope to be someday) not a big Victorian family.

6.    We had a serious debate between painting our house pink or purple. My husband wanted pink until the house across the street went pink. So now ours will be purple.

7.    This summer we celebrated our 30th anniversary.

8.    I have an MS in herpetology but am afraid of snakes. (Even when I know better.)

9.    I am totally UN-afraid of spiders—even though I’m allergic to their venom.

10. The teardrop-shaped scar on my right hand is from a turkey vulture bite.

My grandfather’s first cousin was also an author. He moved to England in the 1920s and 30s and was a reporter, as well as writing 9 novels under the name Erle or Earle Spencer.

What possible twist of fate can help these despairing lovers?

Writing claims my heart, and one of the best decisions I ever made was when I decided to write full time. I’m pretty ordinary really. But I had the chance to travel a lot when my husband did, and fell in love with England. Since I grew up on tales of King Arthur, when my kids were older and I retired from real estate, I turned to a much-desired career of author. I’m now on my 34th book, and loving every minute I can spend at the computer. But let’s not get on the subject of computers! I just switched from a PC to a Mac and the Mac is much smarter than me!
All my heroes are strikingly handsome, of course, with a flaw or two the heroine gets to correct. Writing has always been my joy and I’m so lucky that readers actually buy my stories!

FUN FACTS:
1.    Glad I raised my kids when it was permitted to spank them!

2.    My father was killed by a golf ball when I was six. Honestly!

3.    Glad I was raised poor -- taught me to appreciate all I have today.

4.    Gotta watch every calorie to keep my blasted weight down.

5.    Two left feet when it comes to sports, grew up a book worm

6.    When first married, was awestruck at a man shaving and loved to watch.

7.    Learned French in school. Wish now I’d taken Spanish!

8.    If I’m reading a good book, better leave me strictly alone. I don’t bite, but almost!

FUN FACTS:

1.    Favorite music? I don’t listen very often much since I prefer it quiet when I write, but when I do its rock from the seventies, classical music like Bach and Mozart, or Celtic music like the Chieftains.

2.    My favorite flavor is chocolate. I like it as ice cream, a candy bar or a pie. Or anyway I can get it.

3.    Favorite drink? I love tea. I drink it hot or cold. Tia tea has become a recent favorite of mine.

4.    Hmm, do I have a favorite meal? I love Chinese’s food with fried rice or noodles, sushi (make mine a rainbow roll), Italian Calzone, and Mexican food; tacos, burritos and tamales. Gees, this is making me hungry.

5.    My story was inspired by a real cat named Baron. While I was at the computer typing madly away on a story, Baron would decide it was time to take a nap on my chest and stick his paw down my shirt.

6.    Baron loved me so much he’d stick his muzzle in my ear and purr real loud. I think he said, “If I was only human, grrr.”

7.    I added the paw thing and purring in the ear to my werecat story.

4.    Light catchers and wind chimes add a magical quality to Gemma’s home, where some blend of aromatherapy is usually diffusing into the air.

5.    The Xenakis family yacht is named Tesoro, which is the Italian word for treasure.

6.    On the Hawaiian island of Molokai Gemma once rode a mule down an extremely steep winding cliff to the leper colony below. Twenty years later she can’t believe she survived the ride.

FUN FACTS:

1.    One of the most relaxing things I do when I’m not writing is making bread, and baking.

2.    I’ve always felt technology challenged and actually wrote my first books out by hand, then typed the manuscripts on my old electric typewriter. Computers and word processors were scary things back then. (Some days they still are, of course!)

3.    I actively dislike almost every book I’ve written. There are a few rare exceptions, but mostly I don’t like my books once they’re done, all I see are the flaws.

4.    My best friend for my entire life has been my beautiful sister, who is three years younger than me, and I remember the night she was born and seeing her for the first time.

5.    If I could sit down and interview him, I’d love to talk to Sherlock Holmes, but would settle for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle if I had to. J

6.    I first watched and read Gone With The Wind when I was 17 years old, and it’s been my tradition ever since to watch the movie on New Year’s Eve, and read the book every few years.

7.    Music was once the passion that ruled my life, and while it’s still important, words are where my creative soul lives now.

Known for crafting characters that stay with you long after the last page has turned, Rose Anderson is a multi-published award-winning author and dilettante who loves great conversation and delights in interesting things to weave into stories. Rose also writes across genres under the pen name Madeline Archer. No matter which pen name she uses, Rose chooses descriptive words as carefully as an artist might choose a color.

As a self-described “persnickety leisure reader”, Rose especially enjoys novels that feel like they were written just for her. “It's hard to explain, but if you have ever read a book that felt like you alone knew what the author was getting at, then you’ll know what I mean. I tend to sneak symbolism and metaphor into my writing. You might say it's a game I play with myself when I write. I just love when readers email to say they've found something.” These hidden insights are her gift to her readers. Rose hopes readers will feel her stories were written just for them, for that’s the truth.
She lives with her family and small menagerie amid oak groves and prairie in the rolling glacial hills of the upper Midwest.
