Reluctant Prince
Kingdom of Cymmera
Book One
By Dani-Lyn Alexander
Genre: YA Fantasy
Betrayal lies cloaked in shadow.
Seventeen year old Ryleigh Donnovan is certain her life is cursed. Nothing ever goes smoothly, and her first job interview is no exception. An earthquake rocks the building, sending Ryleigh on a frantic search for her younger sister, a search which lands her in the hospital. Terrified they’ll push her for answers she can’t afford to give, Ryleigh flees with a mysterious stranger.
Jackson Maynard is about to be ordained as a Death Dealer, a warrior for the Kingdom of Cymmera, but first he must pass one more test. When he fails to acquire the human girl the prophet has chosen, he’s forced to stand trial for treason. Banished from his realm, he seeks out the girl from the vision, Ryleigh Donnovan, and together they embark on a journey to save his dying kingdom.

My Review:
Reluctant
Prince (Kingdom of
Cymmera #1)
Overall Rating **** Stars
This book was
really different, a good different. I will admit it took me a couple of
chapters to get into it, and when I did I was not able to put it down. I
thought the storyline was unique and interesting. Ryleigh thinks her life is
cursed. Things happen around her. Jackson is a warrior, who falls for a human
girl. He goes on trial and is banished from the Kingdom of Cymmera. I love the
twist and turns. I love the chemistry between Jackson and Ryleigh. If ask if I
recommend this book I would say yes. Great Job. And I can’t wait for book 2.
My Interview:
1.) So can you tell us how you came up with the idea for this
book? The Title?
I actually had no idea what direction Reluctant Prince would
take when I began writing, but I’ve always been fascinated with alternate
realms. The only thing I knew for certain was the hero, Jackson Maynard, would
be a Death Dealer. The story was written around that character, and the
original title was The Death Dealer. It was changed after the book was
contracted.
2.) Who is your favorite character in this book and why?
I have a soft spot for all of the characters, but I think my
favorite is Jackson. Maybe because he was the first character to develop, but I
like that he’s a strong hero while still having a vulnerable side.
3.) Is this book different from the others you have written
in the past? If so how?
Reluctant Prince is different from most of what I’ve written.
Most of the stories I have published so far have been adult romances. I also
have a cozy mystery series contracted. This was my first attempt at YA,
although I do have an adult urban fantasy series published that also has
alternate realms.
4.) What is your favorite genre to write and why?
I love writing Fantasy. I get to create an entire world with
its own rules, a place to escape to that’s different from the everyday. Plus,
there’s dragons. J
5.) Does your family and friends read your book?
My best friend, Renee, and my sister, Debby, have read all of
my books, even the ones that haven’t been contracted yet. My daughter, Elaina,
read and loved Reluctant Prince, then made me give her the second book in the
series because she couldn’t wait to read it. So, she read the unedited version
and loved it. Unfortunately, book three hasn’t been written yet, so she’ll have
to wait for that one.
6.) What are you currently working on? Do you have a release
date yet? Title?
I am working on books two and three of a cozy mystery series
revolving around a psychic shop that’s been contracted with Berkley Publishing
scheduled to release in 2016 under the name Lena Gregory. Book two in the
Kingdom of Cymmera series is with my editor, and once that’s edited, I’ll begin
book three.
7.) What inspired you to become an author?
I’ve always loved to read, and when my youngest son was born
and didn’t sleep at night, I decided to give writing a try.
8.) Tell us a little about yourself.
I live on eastern Long Island with my husband and three kids.
I love to spend time with my family, read, and shop (especially in book
stores.) I’ve always enjoyed working with kids, first as a dance teacher, and
then choreographing and directing high school musicals.
