Heather Morrow has been fighting demons all her life, but the past two years have likely been her darkest.  So when her friend Katie invites her to a reunion of sorts, Heather jumps at the chance, because Katie, one of the most down-to-earth people Heather has ever called friend, is the only person she has ever felt like herself around, and Heather realizes that she needs an ally to help her out of the shadows.

Kiefer Steele, vocalist for Shock Treatment, has been battling some demons of his own.  He’s been a nothing most of his life, but world-famous J.C. Gibson took him from his beach-combing, weed-smoking ways and helped him make something of himself…except life on the road has taken its toll.  The only ray of hope in his life has been his continuing online friendship with Heather.  The two met in person once, backstage at a concert, and their friendship has grown stronger.

They haven’t seen each other in three years, though, and both have changed immensely.

When they discover each other’s darkest secrets, will their friendship—and budding romance—survive, or are they destined to spend their lives apart…and alone?

Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado, moved from one city/town to the next, and she’s decided she likes it so much she wants to stay…although travel is not out of the question.  She lives in a big town in Colorado (not unlike the fictional Winchester she writes so much about) with her husband and four children.  She is working on becoming a crazy cat lady.  Okay, so maybe not.

Still want more?  Jade has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Theater, a master’s degree in English, and a master of fine arts in Creative Writing.  Obviously, she loves school and the student loan folks love her.  She works in human services by day, teaches English and creative writing at night, and—in between playing soccer mom and community leader—writes like a fiend.  Someday soon, she’ll narrow it down to just writing, but let’s get all those kids off to college first.

My Interview:
Thank you so much for answering my questions!!
1.) So can you tell us how you came up with the idea for this book? The Title?
This book is the third in a series, so it was fairly simple for me to just think about the characters and see in my mind where they came from and where they were going.  The title…I wanted to indicate that, sometimes, no matter how much you’ve sealed off your heart, no matter how much you’ve tried to hide your real self and true feelings, they will get out.  So the characters, particularly Heather, the heroine, has sealed all the exits from her heart—but they get out anyway.  The actual words were inspired by a line in one of my favorite Lamb of God songs, “Terminally Unique”:  “Seal all the exits./ Tie your own hands./ Burn all the bridges,/ head in the sand.”
2.) Who is your favorite character in this book and why?
I can’t really say that I have a favorite.  I really do love all my characters, and asking me to choose a favorite would be like asking me to choose a favorite child.  I just can’t do it!  Some characters are easier for me to relate to, but that’s about it.  Heather, for example, I love because—even though I don’t suffer from most of the problems she deals with—I understand what it’s like to loathe yourself on some level, to distance yourself from others, not just as an effort to keep yourself safe but because you also care about them.  Kiefer, I love because he is a sweetheart, a gentle, loving soul who doesn’t care about anything material in life.  He’s all about people.  He, too, is guarded, but it doesn’t stop him from loving and needing people in his life—in whatever capacity he can handle them.
3.) Is this book different from the others you have written in the past? If so how?
Yes and no.  I try to make all my books as different as possible, mainly because I believe no one wants to read the same thing over and over again (if they do, they can read a book they already have).  That said, this book is the third in a series, so there has to be some familiarity to it.  Also, it’s one of my rock star books, and that’s a genre I’m well-versed in.  However, there is some new stuff in the book to keep readers on their toes!
4.) What is your favorite genre to write and why?
I don’t know that I’d call it a favorite one to write, because I enjoy writing, no matter what it is.  That said, I tend to gravitate toward erotic romance.  I’m not sure why I do, but I am often compelled to tell the stories in my head, and those are there the most.  J
5.) Does your family and friends read your book?
Very few friends.  Most people who know me in real life do not know me as Jade C. Jamison (which is a pseudonym).  There are many reasons for that, but I don’t tell most people about my writing self, so they therefore don’t read my books.
6.) What are you currently working on? Do you have a release date yet? Title?
I’m always working on something new.  I’m currently working on two books.  One is Slash and Burn, book 5 in the Bullet series, and the tentative release date is January 26.  I’m also working on a book called Savage which will come out sometime in March 2015.
7.) What inspired you to become an author?
I can’t say that I was ever inspired.  I started writing when I could hold a pencil, and it wasn’t long after that that I began writing poems and stories.  I have always been compelled to write—it is something I have always done, and I can’t imagine ever not writing, whether or not I share it with others.
8.) Tell us a little about yourself.
Man, I never know what to say when asked that, because I feel like I’m an open book.  J  Let’s see—I’ve been married for forever (well, almost), have four wonderful children, have worked in the public sector for a very long time and, up until a year ago, taught College English and Creative Writing.  I also have a Master’s in English and an MFA in Creative Writing.  I hope that’s enough!
This or That: (Just for Fun)
1.) Erotic Novels or New Adult? Depends on the day!
2.) Paranormal or Sci-fi? Paranormal
3.) Cat or Dog? Cat
4.) Night or Day? Day
5.) Winter or Summer? Summer
6.) Vampires or Werewolf? Vampires
