Reeling from a sudden breakup, Casey Webb leaves Brooklyn, drives north and settles in a sleepy mountain town in upstate New York. She’s convinced she’s happy being alone—until she reads the acknowledgments in her ex-boyfriend’s hit debut novel, thanking his new girlfriend “above all”.

Good thing Ben Mailer is in town. The hot, young Brooklyn-bound chef offers the perfect distraction, and soon Casey is having the best sex of her life—on a mountain, in the lake, all over her cozy cabin. But as their weekend fling turns into something more, the demands of Ben’s family and budding career make moving to her idyllic town impossible.

Now Casey must decide what she can’t live without—her life in the mountains or the man she wants as hers. Smart, sweet and blisteringly hot, Above All is about getting lost…and finding yourself right where you belong.

A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Above All
Overall Rating **** ½ Stars

What a great book, I absolutely loved this romance. I was hooked on page one until the end. Casey Webb is getting over a break-up, so she moves from her town of Brooklyn and moves upstate to the mountains.  I love Ben, he is swoon worthy hot chef from Brooklyn who happens to be up in the mountains as well. Casey is doing well until she reads what her ex wrote in new debut book. Ben is there for Casey, and boy the chemistry between Casey and Ben was HOT!!! This is a must read book you will not be disappointed! It is a sweet romance, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat! Great Job Rebecca I can’t wait to read more from you!

Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx. Her books are about independent women who leave their old lives behind to try something new—and find the passion, excitement and purpose they didn’t know they’d been missing.

Thank you for answering my Questions!
1.) Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in the Bronx, New York and am the author of the contemporary erotic romance ABOVE ALL, published by Ellora’s Cave. I’m really into travel and the outdoors—I like to hike and ski, and I’ve done a fair amount of bouncing around South and Southeast Asia, South America, and parts of the U.S. Travel and an openness to new experiences play a big role in my writing. I love walking around New York and seeing whatever pops up. I don’t need much to be happy and I’m never, ever bored.
2.) When did you start to write?
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was six years old, so I guess in many ways I’ve always been writing. But I didn’t start writing fiction seriously until I finished my doctorate in 2012 came to terms with the fact that if I really wanted to “be a writer,” I needed to actually write. I’d dabbled in a few different novels before, but when I came up with the idea for ABOVE ALL it had such a hold on me that I absolutely had to see it through.
3.) What Genres do you write?
ABOVE ALL is contemporary erotic romance. I think of it as literary romance—there’s definitely a story to it and character development. No matter what I’m reading or writing, I care a lot about quality prose.
4.) Have you ever thought about writing in a different genre?
I’ve done a lot of different kinds of writing, including poetry and literary scholarship, but right now I’m really happy with the home I’ve found in contemporary romance. I write feminist novels with strong, multidimensional characters who are exploring life and love in beautiful, dynamic, and interesting settings. Romance is such a creative genre and it allows me to explore questions of sexuality and identity that have always interested me. Contemporary romance feels the most relatable to me—but who knows, I can’t say I’ll never write anything else!
5.) Can you tell us a little about your new project?
I *think* I’m starting a new series set in the Pacific Northwest. I’m currently dreaming up a cast of characters to take advantage of all the outdoor activities and I’d love for the books to be seasonal—the first one I’m outlining is tentatively titled THE MASTER PLAN and is a winter book about skiing (and hot tubs, and cocoa, and warm fires, and a major political battle underfoot). But it’s still early in the process so anything could happen!

6.) Do you have any new releases coming out anytime soon? If yes what is the title and when can we expect it?
Yes! My next book, HOW TO FALL, is coming out from Entangled in 2015. It’s a contemporary erotic romance set in southern Brazil, with waterfalls, hang gliding, New Year’s Eve in Rio… it’s really, really fun and I couldn’t be more excited.
7.) What are you currently reading? What was the last book you read?
I just finished THE BURGESS BOYS by Elizabeth Strout, LOOKING FOR TROUBLE by Victoria Dahl, THE CAIRO AFFAIR by Olen Steinhauer, and THE INFATUATIONS by Javier Marías. Clearly I read a lot of different genres and have multiple books going on at once. I’m currently listening to FIRE by Kristin Cashore on audiobook. I’m not sure what to start next.
8.) Who are some of your favorite authors?
I really admire the versatility and creativity of Margaret Atwood and Neil Gaiman, even if I don’t always love every single one of their books. Marilynne Robinson, Barbara Kingsolver, Octavia Butler, Marie Howe, Willa Cather, Edith Wharton… I hate having to pick favorites, it’s too hard.
9.) Can you tell us about your newest book that you have released?
My debut, ABOVE ALL, is about an artist who drops everything after a breakup and moves to a small town in upstate New York, where she helps run a campsite by a lake. She’s happy being alone, until she meets a younger chef who comes to the campsite for a weekend with friends. It’s got hiking, skinny-dipping, mouth-watering pastries… and a woman who won’t settle for less than she deserves.
10.) Which of your books you written is your favorite? Favorite Character?
Well I only have one book out (so far!) so that’s my favorite. I love how fierce and determined Casey is, I love the wisdom and kindness of Casey’s best friend Lee, and I’m absolutely crazy about Lee’s adorable cats. Plus Ben is a total keeper. He’s human and flawed, but he’s welcome to come cook for me any time.

RAPID FIRE:

1.) Favorite Color: Gray. No, purple. Blue? This is too hard.
2.) Favorite Singer: I’m on a big Chris Pureka kick right now. I like acoustic, folky tunes.
3.) Favorite Season: Winter, but only when it’s snowy. Fall gets a thumbs up because of the anticipation of winter. Spring is always a relief because by the time winter’s over I’m ready for it to leave.
4.) Favorite Food: Fancy, ridiculously expensive single origin dark chocolate.
5.) Favorite Animal: Try to watch an otter playing and not smile. I’m pretty sure it can’t be done.
