Synopsis
**This is a standalone novel.**
Sara has lived most of her life in silence, her only outlet being family BBQs where she sings like an angel. When her wild, guitar playing cousin talks her into singing at a club, her world is turned upside down. She is forced to face a world she has spent most of her life avoiding and is crippled with fear.
One set of dark, brooding eyes at a show in Cincinnati changes everything. Gio breaks Sara so he can rebuild her. He makes her feel alive in a way she's never experienced. Unfortunately, he's not what he seems and Sara isn't sure she can forgive him. Though his intentions are good, she knows a relationship cannot be built on lies so she retreats back to her silent world.
When Hollywood comes knocking on Sara's door, he's the only one who stands a chance at convincing her to leave her silent life and move to LA. Gio is determined to make Sara trust and love him, but Sara is stubborn and scared, a combination that no one is sure she can overcome.
*Warning* This book contains sex, backstage debauchery, and a good amount of barf bags. Recommended for readers over 18.

Emily is a Midwestern Gal hailing from the United States, but could be anywhere as you read this. Currently residing in Mexico, adventure feeds her soul, and offers great writing material. She loves kids and working with kids, but can only handle caring for four-legged furry friends. A crazy dog and laid back cat have trained her to be their partner in life. After coming from a snowy climate, Emily and the animals are loving the sun Mexico has to offer each and every day. Vices include Swedish Fish, ignoring chores in favor of reading, and caring too much for people in her life. She chose to write this bio in third person as she is an Aries, and found writing in first person ended up with her writing an excessively long life story. Aries like to talk about themselves. It is something Emily is working on being more mindful of. You can contact her on any of the social media platforms below and she will respond, as her mom gave her the gift of gab.

My Interview:
My Interview:
1. So can you tell us how you came up with the idea for this book? The
title?
I've had the idea for this book for so long
I can't recall what sparked it. Often an idea just pops into my head at the
most random times. There is a piece of me in every book. Sara, the heroine,
shares traits that I have and I wanted the opportunity to write about something
that often goes undiscussed. The title was always in my head. From the moment I
came up with idea, I knew the title.
2. Who is your favorite character in this book and why?
I love Lila, Sara's cousin. I have a
raunchy mouth.
3. Is this book different from others you have written in the past? If
so, how?
The previous five books I wrote were part
of a series. They are gritty, with excessive cussing, lots of graphic sex,
violence, kidnappings, drugs, and controversial political topics. My mom wanted
to be able to let her friends read a book of mine. She is a proud mother, but
couldn't recommend my previous books to her friends as some might find them
offensive. I made an effort to tame this one down a bit. (I think I failed in a
few parts, though.) Any raunchiness I got out through Lila, hence why I love
her so much! She was super fun to write
dialogue for. I also set this book in my hometown. It was a blast to write
about all the places I grew up around.
4. What is your favorite genre to write and why?
Gritty romance. I like to keep it real, and
real life is gritty sometimes. I also like to write about people who could be
real. My books are fiction, but many of my characters could very well be your
next door neighbor.
5. Do your family and friends read your work?
See Q 3!! My mom reads all my books. We
didn't let my dad read the last 5 books. My friends who are readers always get
first dibs on anything new I write. I keep my writing on the down low at my
jobs. I work with kids, and my books are not in any way appropriate for kids.
6. What are you currently working on? Do you have a release date yet?
Title?
I am currently writing a book tentatively
titled Him & Her. It's about two adults who seem very different, but are
both the product of the foster care system making them have a lot in common. It
is set in Milwaukee, a city I lived in for almost five years. It is an incredibly
segregated city. It was frustrating to me. I'm a white girl, who grew up around
black people, loves hip hop, and speaks Spanish. I like diversity. In my
hometown, it is diverse and people are much more mixed together. They don't
segregate themselves as much. While I was in Milwaukee, I was in a relationship
with a black man. For us, race was inconsequential. We had a lot in common,
like the characters in Him & Her. We both worked with kids and were
passionate about the work we did. It was more than a job, it was a piece of who
we were. As well, we both worked with kids due to things in our past. We didn't
see ourselves as an interracial couple, but the rest of the city did. In the
book, the hero and heroine have to work through some personal issues to be
together. This is a challenge, made more so because their friends and coworkers
keep shoving the race thing in their faces. It won't be ready until Spring
2015.
7. What inspired you to become an author?
I received a journal for Christmas when I
was 8 years old. I've been journaling ever since. It is a way to work through
things in my head. I hold a bachelors degree in Anthropology, a field that is
writing heavy. So writing has been a part of my life for quite some time. I had
an idea for an MC series, ran it by an author I befriended online, and the rest
is history. Once you write a book, it becomes addictive. I have at least three
more stories in my head ready to go.
8. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am currently living in Mexico and
teaching English. I lived in four states in the U.S. and now Mexico. In the
States, I ran after school youth programs. I love kids, even if I don't plan to
have any of my own. Please don't say that I will meet the right man and blah
blah blah. I'm 34 years old and have known since I was 16 that I didn't want
kids. I might adopt or foster when I can pick one place to live and stay. I love
kids and have a gift with teens, a rather challenging age group to work with.
Working with young people is a life calling for me.
I can lose a whole weekend to reading. I
read voraciously in the romance genre. I've made both of my heroines readers so
I could express my love of certain books. Any book I mention in Fighting Words
is there because it was what I was reading at the time, or it is one of my
favorites. I love CD Reiss, Tijan, Kristen Ashley, The Ritchie Sisters, Charles
Sheehan-Miles, Andrea Randall, Amy Harmon, Amelia Hutchins, Madeline Sheehan,
Lili St. Germain, and so many more.
I love waking up each day and not knowing
what to expect. I thrive on adventure and new experiences.
I am a sneaker-head. I brought around 30
pairs to Mexico with me. My favorites are a pair of red, high top Jordans, and
a pair of green, tweed Nikes. Coming in third are my yellow and blue Nike
Cortez. Hmmm. It appears I'm partial to Nike, but I have a good collection of
Pumas going as well. I am a plain dresser (according to my mother), but my
sneakers tend to be loud and flashy. I'm tall, so I have big feet and can wear
men's shoes. They have way better colors in men's sneakers that women's!
I was a cook at Applebee's for 7 years. I
can cook anything, though I rarely cook anything fancier than tuna salad and
quesadillas.
I love my mom and call her multiple times a
week. Thank God for international phone plans.
This or that:
1. Erotic Novels or New Adult?
Neither. A good romance with action and
sex. I don't care how old the characters are.
2. Paranormal or Sci Fi?
Crap. I don't know the difference...
3. Cat or Dog?
I have one of each.
4. Night or Day?
Day. I love the sun.
5. Winter or Summer?
Summer. I grew up in Indiana on the
Michigan border. If I never see snow again in my life, I would be just fine
with that!!
6. Vampires or Werewolves?
Vampires
Thank for posting! I appreciate it.
